The Mains World

We have had a very bad experience with Henk Bannink from Varilec cc, www.varilec.co.za. We contracted him to do do building alterations on our property. The agreement was to pay on a weekly basis to cover the weeks labour and materials. Near the end of the work, he would request the weekly payment, but no materials would be delivered. Staff would stop coming to site, and the worked all but stopped.

After weeks of fighting with him, it turned out that he has ‘run out’ of money. Even though he has specified what the previous draw was for. On reflection, we saw a pattern. After a large draw, he would go on holiday. To the Kruger for a week or two, or Cosy Bay.

He would never pitch on site at the agreed time, and when called to find out what time he would arrive, he would get upset with us. As the building slowly progressed, so the quality of the fittings and fixtures reduced. Branded items that where quoted became cheap ‘Builders Warehouse’ house brands.

He would constantly lie to us saying that the materials where purchases, but he was storing them off site. This turned out to be utter nonsense.

Our agreement included having him onsite to supervise etc, which did not happen and as a result his workers stole electronic equipment and jewellery in the order of R25 000.

We are in the red now for R40 000 (excluding the amount stolen), which actually equates to R80 000 as I now need to get someone else to do the work.

I have pretty much written this money off, but would like to warn anyone else out there not to use Henk Bannink or his company Varilec cc.

Lack of service is a disease!

The family and Mom & Dad spent a week in the Kruger Park. We spent 3 nights in Skukuza and 3 nights in Satara. The weather was fantastic albeit very hot.

The boys have become avid birdwatchers and by the end of the week where calling out names like they had always known them.

We where lucky enough to find an follow for about 2km a pack of wild dogs.

I am proud to say I won Gold at the Western Gauteng Karate Champs. This means I’ll be going to Nationals in July. Who would have thought after only training for 1.5 years.
